Mr. Chasan has been litigating cases his entire professional career - including numerous complex patent infringement litigation matters since joining Caesar Rivise. A former Associate Solicitor in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Chasan is also a former trial attorney in the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and an Assistant United States Attorney in Philadelphia. Mr. Chasan has represented generic drug companies in litigations involving Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA cases), involving clopidogrel bisulfate (Plavix®) and omeprazole (Prilosec®). Mr. Chasan has extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts, particularly in matters involving jury trials (approximately 30 jury trials) and appeals. He has also successfully argued appeals in the United States Courts of Appeal for the Third and Sixth Circuits, and in the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. A registered patent attorney, he is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association. Mr. Chasan has a Masters degree in biochemistry and is a member of the firm's ANDA Litigation Team.
Sanofi-Aventis, Sanofi-Synthelabo, Inc., and Bristol-Myers Squibb Sanofi Pharmaceuticals Holding Partnership v. Apotex, Inc. (S.D.N.Y. 2003) represented generic in ANDA litigation on anti-platelet medication Plavix® (clopidogrel bisulphate)
AstraZeneca AB v. Apotex, Inc. (S.D.N.Y. 2002) represented one of five generic manufacturers in ANDA multi-district litigation for a gastric acid proton pump inhibitor Prilosec® (omeprazole)
